Is there a need?
Is there a need for design at all? This question cannot be a question per se. Design is omnipresent, which just happens to be there, everywhere. Take a look, everything is a form of design, a creation of some sort. From the the physical manisfestation of your computer screen, table, paper bag, CD sleeves, slippers to flower pots. It's design. Even us, the homo sapiens, are designed through the evolution of time. But to question the origin, or the starting point of design, is a difficult one. This question probably traces back to nature. Since the dawn of time, nature has always been a source of inspiration and resource for human to create something to their advantage and comfort. Shapes and colours are all extracted from nature. Thus, it is probably correct to say that design is a work of nature. The human mind is a work and design of nature. From there, the human mind comes out with ideas of creation for the things that surrounds us today. Design is not a need. Design has always been with us, in us.
